The Essential Guide To Backpacking

That first backpacking trip I took back when I was still in high school has placed memories within me that will stay for a lifetime. The nice memory to two brothers walking on the mountains, fishing together and admiring the beauty of nature is what comes up most of the time. Then again there are also those memories you want to never remember but do because you learned from them many things. Even if the missteps we had were not major ones, it would still have been better if we knew what we were getting ourselves into rather than going at it blind.

My search for adventure always took me on plenty of two days exploits. Then again my brother who has become some kind of backpacking expert has enjoyed more outings that average four to five days. You might ask what allows him the luxury to afford more days on the trail. The answer lies in the equipment he has selected and a few common sense rules that make the sport enjoyable.
Some rules also govern this sport and one had to familiarize themselves with it before going into the wild. The first is to always have clothes that are comfortable and backpacks that are right for your body type. What you need to also have is a tent and sleeping back that is wellmade and never forget to pack the needed stuff only. A lot of times I have experienced having people complain about the weight they had to carry around with them.

My brother says the best way is to start from the bottom and work your way up. The backbone of your whole backpacking trip is dependent on the kind of boots you will bring. Get boots that have extra space for your thick clad feet as well as remember that your toes should be safe from the front of the boot so that no discomfort is felt when walking downhill.

Having the right backpack is also critical on your journey. For your trip, you may want a backpack that has nylon make up and can be adjusted. Convincing you to bring more things and thus increasing the weight you have to bring is the outside pockets of your backpack.

Typically, a 5,000 cubic inch backpack is already ample for a trip that is worth one week. Pack clothes that you will need and will surely wear. Consider rounding out your gear with a quality rain suit.

Water resistant is the quality of the foot of the tent you want. Room for equipment should be taken into consideration so it is ideal to have a large tent. For more strength, the seams should be lap felled. With water repellent spray you can keep you tent free from water.

You may want to bring along food on your trip but too much may become heavy. Food can be dehydrated so that when you go on your trip, you will be able to bring more and save weight. A good idea is to bring a small pot for when you will be cooking outdoors and to keep your food safe place it in freezer bags. Take a Bunsen burner on your trip so that you can keep away from forest fires.
